Then a powerful way of praying to Mary. The Pompeian Mother of God taught her worshipers several times on how to receive the grace they desire.
There is a known fact of the appearance of the Mother of God to a terminally ill patient from Naples - Fortunate Agrelli (at the age of 21), to whom She said: “Every time you want to receive any grace from Me, perform three supplicatory novena in My honor, praying the 15 Secrets of the Holy Rosary and then 3 novena thanks. "
Fortunata Agrelli was miraculously healed. This was the beginning of a prayer practice based on the prayer of the Holy Rosary, recited for 54 days, the so-called "Failure Novena".
Beginning in 1876, the image of the Pompeian Mother of God became known as miraculous. In 1890, Pope Leon XIII officially confirmed the miracles performed through the intercession of the Pompeian Mother of God.
The founder of the new city of Pompeii and the basilica is the blessed Bartolo Longo, who loved Mary with filial love and spread her veneration through the Holy Rosary. Until now, there is no known case that someone praying with faith to the Pompeian Novena, after its completion, was not gifted with the grace that he asked for.
How to do the Pompeian Novena:
1. Mark in the calendar the day of the beginning of the Pompeian Novena.
2. The Pompeian Novena lasts 54 days. During these 54 days we read the “old” three parts of the Holy Rosary (joyful, sorrowful, glorious). If you wish, you can read all four parts, together with the Light Secrets.
3. At the beginning of each of the three parts of the Holy Rosary we say our intention (briefly and succinctly, only one intention), and then we say: "I bring this Rosary to Your Glory, O Queen of the Holy Rosary."
4. During the first 27 days (3 x 9 days) we read the so-called supplicatory part of the Pompeian Novena and every day after reading each part of the Holy Rosary we add the following prayer:
“Remember, O all-merciful Pompeian Virgin of the Holy Rosary, that no one has heard that anyone who comes running to You, asking for Your help with the Rosary, was abandoned by You. Do not despise my words, O Mother of the Eternal Word, but through Your Holy Rosary and favor to the shrine in Pompeii, heed my request. Amen".
5. Over the next 27 days, we read the so-called thanksgiving part of the Pompeian Novena (3 thanksgiving novena), after reading each of the parts of the Holy Rosary we add the following prayer:
“What can I give You, O Queen, filled with love? I dedicate my whole life to You, wishing, as far as I have the strength, to spread Your veneration, O Virgin of the Holy Rosary from Pompeii. For when I asked You for help, grace from God descended on me. Wherever I am, I will talk about the mercy that You have shown me; I will spread the veneration of the Holy Rosary, testifying how kindly You treated me, so that the same unworthy sinners, like me, would resort to You with confidence. Oh, if the whole world knew how good You are, how merciful you are to those who suffer, then everything created would have resorted to You. Amen".
6. Regardless of the closing prayers proposed in paragraphs 4 and 5, each of the three parts of the Holy Rosary we end - immediately after reading it - with a 3-fold appeal to the Mother of God:
"Queen of the Holy Rosary, pray for us."
This is a very powerful Novena! Perseverance and prayerful persistence are part of the Novena. It takes 54 consecutive days to complete the Pompeian Novena. If you are not completely sure of the necessity of what you are asking for, then most likely you will not be able to endure 54 days in a row. The point of the Novena is to use the aspect of perseverance and perseverance in prayer to receive the gift that we need. A single prayer is often not sufficient to satisfy our requests.
