Novena to Saint Anthony

Initial prayer
Pglorious miracle worker, Saint Anthony! For so many centuries, not only Padua, but every corner of the earth blesses and honors your name, for there is no sorrow from which you would not deliver, and there is no torment in which you would not help. Therefore, I humbly pray to you: be my patron and protector. Oh my merciful Patron, Wonderworker and Saint, let me honor and bless you all my life.
The first day
O Saint Anthony, you were born in abundance, but did not reckon with the riches of the earth. Hearing the call of God, you immediately left them. I humbly ask you, pray to God that he would grant me the ability to renounce mortal earthly blessings and obediently listen to the word of God.

Second day
O Saint Anthony, I am seized with shame at the sight of your humility, which you have chosen as your guiding star in all life's deeds. From now on, I yearn to become your devoted follower. Pray to God to grant me love for humility and hatred for devilish pride.

Day three
O great saint, you were so eager to shed your blood for the faith of Christ that you went to African countries. I ask you, pray to God, that He would give me in my life the same concern for the affairs of God.

Day four
O Saint Anthony, with a zeal worthy of wonder, you labored for the glory of God and for the salvation of human souls, sparing no effort in converting sinners, heretics and pagans to the true path. I ask you, pray to God, that He would give me the strength to resist the temptations against faith and the ability to heed the word of God.

Day five
O Saint Anthony, lily of integrity, I pray you, bestow upon me the gift of the virtue of obedience, humility and moderation. Help me find inner peace, joy and such love for Christ, before which all the blessings that cannot be compared with this gift would darken.

Day six
O great saint, patron of the oppressed, through your perfect love for your neighbor, make me love God in the poor, the rejected and the needy. Grant me effective love for your neighbor, so that with it I may earn a reward in heaven.

Seventh day
O Saint Anthony, who was in tireless repentance and mortification of the flesh, I pray you help me, so that I too may humble the languor of the flesh, striving to atone for the sins committed in the past and avoid new transgressions.

Day eight
O Saint Anthony, your unattainable obedience to the will of God is for me an eternal reproach and an example to follow. I consider all my illnesses, sufferings and hardships that God sends for the good of my soul, the greatest evil and injustice. My patron saint, pray to God that He will allow me to patiently endure everything that He deigns to send me.

Day nine
O Saint Anthony, glorious miracle worker, even during your lifetime God endowed you with the gift of performing miracles. Be my heavenly intercessor. Help me in all my needs. Become my salvation, my help, my refuge in adversity. Pray to God that He may have mercy and deign to fulfill the requests with which I address you in this novena. I commit myself to the will of God.

Blessed and glorious Saint Anthony, you won fame for your miracles and the grace of Jesus Christ, shown to you when He, in the form of a Child, deigned to be in your arms.
May my promise to lead a life in accordance with the gospel commandments and tireless concern for the poor, whom you loved so much during your life, be proof of my gratitude for your intercession before God. Pray to God to grant me faithfulness to this promise.
